High Point wins award for distribution and warehousing

The city of High Point and its Economic Development Corp. have been recognized with a national award for supporting the distribution and warehousing industry sector.

The 2009 Award of Excellence from Expansion Solutions Magazine cited High Point for having "made exceptional progress in economic development by successfully recruiting, retaining, and growing businesses" in the sector, according to an announcement from the EDC.

The magazine noted accomplishments in 2009 including the opening of a fulfillment center for check manufacturer Harland Clarke Corp., and warehouse and distribution facilities opening for companies such as furniture maker Schnadig International, garage door supplier Hormann and automotive component supplier Wema Americas.

High Point also received the award in 2008, said EDC President Loren Hill.
